Changing Lives, Inspiring Futures
Founded and Chaired by Jane Fonda, the Georgia Campaign for Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention (G-CAPP) was created to eliminate teen pregnancy in Georgia. G-CAPP is in the business of replicating programs that really work. The Carrera Adolescent Pregnancy Prevention Program has a proven track record of successful outcomes for youth, who have graduated from the program and achieved their dreams of college and successful careers.  The key to this program is highly trained staff who believe in young people.  The model is based on a holistic approach of caring, support, and structure that infuses
self-esteem, aspirations for excellence, resilience and life skills.

Elements of Success

G-CAPP will work with 70 sixth grade students through high school graduation.  The program operates 5 days a week after school and daily throughout the summer. The program consists of 7 components designed to not only educate youth on the consequences of sexual activity, but includes emphasis on education, creative talent, community service and employment.  The 7 components include:

  1. Job Club – a work-related intervention that includes an individual bank account, stipends, career awareness, community service and employment experiences.
  1. Education – activities include individual academic assessment, tutoring, homework help, PSAT and SAT preparation.
  1. Family Life Sexuality Education (FLSE) – age-appropriate sexuality education classes.
  1. Self-expression through the arts – music, dance, writing and drama classes.
  1. Lifetime individual sports – physical fitness that focuses on sports that can be played throughout life.
  1. Power Group – a mental health session, including counseling as needed.
  1. Comprehensive medical care, including dental care in collaboration with partnering physicians.

"When it comes to young people, believe that all things are possible."
