GCAPP empowers youth by spearheading practical solutions that address the information gap—important information that will help guide young people through adolescence and into successful adulthood. Our Youth Empowerment Summit (YES!) connects young people to vital information they need in their everyday lives. YES! attracts hundreds of students (primarily high school students) throughout the state and features young people and adults who have remarkable life experiences. YES! provides a variety of youth informed workshops presented by experts and often chosen by young people themselves. This year’s workshops will focus on the following:

Self-Awareness: key topics include healthy relationships, mental health concerns
Knowledge: key topics include educational opportunities, college prep, financial literacy
Image: key topics include social media, personal development
NOW: key topics include racial and social justice, civic participation, rising suicide rates among youth

When young people are given the right information, have consistent support from their families and community, and have the opportunity to express themselves—without judgment—they are empowered. YES! gives them a platform and opportunities they may not otherwise get, including information on how to actualize and reach their goals.
