Physical Activity & Nutrition

Georgia ranks 4th in the country in obesity rates of youth 10-17 years old. We work to improve the nutrition and physical activity of youth through our PowerMoves! program.

PowerMoves!

To respond to the increasing rates of childhood obesity, PowerMoves! is a school-based initiative that provides innovative services and digital tools to help set the foundation for a healthier adolescence for elementary school students. It is well documented that proper nutrition and physical activity play important roles in:

  • Better Attendance in School
  • Improved Behavior, in general
  • Improved Concentration
  • Better Academic Performance
  • Overall Health and Wellness

Get Active. Eat Better. Do Better.

With our campus garden builds and our active seating classroom initiative, we have found that if a program is interesting enough and fun enough, it will trigger students’ curiosity, prompt active participation on a frequent basis, and, thereby, help improve their overall physical activity and nutrition, their overall health.
